State Plan for Minnesota Libraries

In order to define the role of libraries in the life of Minnesotans, State Library Services, a division of the Minnesota Department of Education, established a task force in 2005 to discuss statewide needs and concerns about library service in Minnesota. To establish and implement a process for gathering input from communities across the state, thirty (30) community listening forums were held for library stakeholders, including library board members, library staff, community members, educators, and others. A survey was offered online and in print for those unable to attend a local forum. The task force met to discuss the information gathered and to develop a framework for the delivery of library services in Minnesota. The State Plan for Minnesota Libraries is the outcome of these efforts.
