Register now for the unique opportunity to attend a half-day workshop, From Desk to Web: Creating Safety Nets in the Online Library, offered in the Minitex region!  Co-sponsored by the University of Minnesota Libraries and Minitex, Jerilyn Veldof and Janet Fransen will teach useful techniques to help extend your reach as reference and instruction librarians beyond face-to-face encounters and greatly increase users’ success in your library’s website.

During this hands-on workshop, participants will learn to employ their expertise to identify and analyze the points in a library website where users stumble and often give up on the library.  Then participants will begin to design “safety nets” or support structures at those fail points that gently catch the users and help them be more successful researchers.

This workshop is based on a book chapter written by the Veldof and published in Desk and Beyond: Next Generation Reference Services, edited by Sarah Steiner and Leslie Madden. Chicago: ACRL.  The chapter is available here:  http://purl.umn.edu/42384.

Audience:  Reference or instruction librarians from any academic, public, or special library or school media center.  Limited to 36 attendees.
