Group MN: Public Library Division of MLA
RSS

The Public Library Division of the Minnesota Library Association promotes best practices for public libraries. We encourage all staff from various types of public libraries in Minnesota to share your creative ideas. In particular, PLD is hosting a webinar on June 8th, 2009 focused on how public libraries are coping in the challenging economic times. We will be asking directors from various types of public libraries -- large and small, from the metro area and from greater Minnesota to share their ideas. We will be focusing on these 3 questions: 1. What is your organization doing to address shrinking budgets at a time when library use is growing? 2. How has your library developed strategic priorities for using the available funding? 3. Political Capital – how has your library established its value to your communities? How does this help you when there is fierce competition for funding from all of your sources? We believe this webinar is just the start to an ongoing conversation. We encourage you to use this on-line community as we share our collective wisdom. We welcome your participation. Please plan to join us.

Partnership Agreement form
I am attaching the partnership agreement form. It was specifically developed for program partnerships and has been modified for other types as well. We find it very help in clarifying expectations from both parties, avoiding mission creep and holding our partners accountable. The items under the responsibility sections are variable depending upon the partnership that is negotiated.

Seattle Public to close for one week.
Seattle Public Library to close for one week on August 31. An interesting alternative for libraries. If 2011 and 2012 are as bad as we expect, a statewide effort to close public libraries on the same week could be a powerful statement.
